First Aid: Bleeding Tongue
Priority
Low
Symptoms
Blood appears around mouth. Normally looks more severe tha it actually is. The dog may vomit as a result a swallowing some of the blood.
First Aid
In most cases the bleeding will stop on its own. If the cut is severe, the dog should be taken to a vet as soon as possible. If availble allow the dog to chew on some ice as this may slow the bleeding.
Notes
If possible, the dog should be allowed 24 hours for a good clot to form before any work or journeys.
